Caring for your art: keeping your prints timeless

You have chosen your print, waited for the delivery, and finally hung it on the wall. It looks perfect. Now, how do you keep it that way?

Since I use fine art materials, your print is built to last a lifetime. However, like anything precious, a little bit of care goes a long way. Here are three simple tips to protect your investment.

1. Watch the sun: My prints use archival pigment inks that are resistant to fading. However, direct, harsh sunlight is powerful stuff. Over decades, it can affect even the best materials. Try to hang your art on a wall that doesn't get blasted by direct beams of midday sun every single day.

2. Humidity is the enemy: It might be tempting to hang a calming ocean print in the bathroom to create a spa vibe. Be careful here. High humidity and fluctuating temperatures can cause paper to ripple over time. If you do want art in the bathroom, make sure the room is very well-ventilated, or consider having it professionally mounted to seal it completely.

3. Cleaning the glass: If you ordered a framed print, it likely has high-quality acrylic (plexiglass) for safety and clarity. When dusting it, avoid chemical sprays or rough paper towels, as these can leave tiny scratches. A simple, dry microfiber cloth is all you need to wipe away dust and keep it crystal clear.

Treat it well, and it will be the highlight of your room for years to come.
