Buying art for yourself is instinctual. Buying art for someone else? That can feel terrifying. Art is personal, and the fear of getting it "wrong" stops a lot of people from giving one of the most thoughtful gifts possible.
But here is the thing: giving art is giving a feeling. It shows you know someone.
If you want to gift a print but aren't sure where to start, ask yourself these two questions:
1. What is their "happy place"? Do they love the energy of the city, or are they always escaping to the coast on weekends? If you know they love the ocean, a calm seascape is rarely a miss. It acknowledges a part of them that they love.
2. What colors do they live in? Think about their living room. is it full of beige and cream? Then a high-contrast black and white print will add a stunning modern touch without clashing. Is their home colorful and eclectic? Then a vibrant, warm print might fit right in.
The "safe" bet (that isn't boring): If you are really unsure, go for black and white photography. It is timeless, fits almost every interior style from industrial to Scandinavian, and rarely feels out of place.
